Dorit Rabinyan, bestselling author of the acclaimed Persian Brides and Strand of a Thousand Pearls, will be speaking about and reading excerpts of her new novel All the Rivers (also known as "Borderlife").
All the Rivers is a frank and tender depiction of a taboo relationship that raises questions—for the lovers and for us—about the convergences of homeland and exile, borderlines and destinies. In January 2016, All the Rivers (under the title "Borderlife") became the center of a political scandal in Israel when the Ministry of Education banned the book from high school curriculum as a "threat to Jewish identity." The banning (first published by www.haaretz.com on 12/31/2015) had reached a worldwide exposure in major media platforms (NBC, CNN, BBC etc.) and was best summed up in this NYT op-ed.
