Let's be honest: Jewish overnight camp is expensive. Thanks to a generous grant from the Robert & Marcia Ascher Endowment / IAUJC, as well as generous local donors to IAUJC, funds are available to help Ithaca area children and teens have the best summer experiences.

Why Jewish summer camp?

Jewish overnight summer camp is immersion in Jewish life. Camp helps to build the future leaders of our communities – Jewish people who will continue the traditions and values. The activities, friendships, and communal life provide opportunities for building confidence, developing identity, and experiencing the joy of Jewish life. The meals, the ropes course, the waterfront, the cabins, the sports, and the arts and crafts are all infused with Jewish ethics and culture.

Choosing a Jewish Summer Camp

There are so many Jewish summer programs (for ages 6-18)! This means there is something for everyone, including including specialty camps for children interested in:

Sports
Drama and arts
Jewish observance
Music and dance
Nature and outdoors
Water sports and activities
Environmental sustainability
Cooking
Learning Hebrew or Yiddish
Russian or Hebrew Speaking

Sessions range from 1 to 8 weeks and every day is full of activity, fun, and friendship!

Our Committee

We are a group of first and second generation Holocaust survivors and refugees, in addition to current and retired educators, interested in providing high quality support for teachers of the Holocaust in the Ithaca area. Several of our committee members are pictured here.

With the aging of the first generation Holocaust speakers in schools in our community, we feel that there is a need for the Jewish community to be resourceful in providing qualified speakers for schools and community organizations in Ithaca and the surrounding areas.

Goldsworthy Holocaust Memorial at Cornell Plantations

The Goldsworthy Holocaust Memorial in the F.R. Newman Arboretum at the Cornell Plantations was created in 2004 by Andy Goldsworthy, a then A.D. White Professor-at-Large at Cornell, and famed environmental artist.
