Campaign Launch Party May 2017

Yarden Fanta-Vagenshtein

On May 21, 2017, about 90 community members and out-of-town guests gathered at the Biotech Building at Cornell  to celebrate the acheivements of the IAUJC. In the midst of a lovely dinner, prepared by Ba Li Cravings, attendees heard from local recipients about the impact of donor dollars. Daniel Barbash talked about the PJ Library program, Inbal Schlosberg talked of B'Yachad, our Jewish pre-school and Anna Stevens described her stay at Camp Seneca Lake. All three speakers thanked the IAUJC and its donors for the benefits bestowed on them and their families. We also heard from Lexie Tuchman, our regional representative of the Jewish Federation of North America. Lexie talked about the help received around the world by those in need, all made possible by donors to the Federation. Anna Stevens

Our keynote speaker was Yarden Fanta-Vagenshtein, an Ethiopian Israeli who was the first woman of her community to receive a PhD in Israel. She told us of her life in Ethiopia, the trek to Sudan and the flight to Israel on Operation Moses. She encouraged us all to be as generous as possible as we think about others who are not as fortunate.Yarden Fanta-VagenshteinInbal SchlosbergDan Barbash
