IAUJC Campership Grants for Summer 2017

Day at Camp

On Sunday, December 18, about 70 students (and 15-20 parents) from Tikkun v’Or and Temple Beth-El joined together to learn about Jewish summer camp. This was a day to get students excited about the IDEA of Jewish overnight camp, and to share some camp-like activities. All the children and many of the parents participated in these activities. Then there was a drawing for the ten $180 camp incentive gifts from IAUJC. Three of the ten awards will be going to first time campers! A total of nine incentive grants were used.

The Campership application process took place from March through May this year. As a result, 6 youth from the Ithaca area were awarded camperships based on need. The total distributed by IAUJC, directly to the Jewish camps, was $7600. Most of these funds came from the Robert and Marcia Ascher Endowment of the IAUJC. In addition, several generous individuals contributed to this effort.
