Blowing ShofarApple TastingBraiding a ChallahGourdlandia Workshop

On Sunday, September 18th, PJ Library families and their friends welcomed in the New Year with a variety of activities. It all took place at Gourdlandia on Rachel Carson Way. Graham Ottoson was our hostess. She led the gourd crafts (a honey pot and a sukkah decoration). In addition, children could make a beeswax candle and a braided challah. They could listen to holiday stories and songs, taste apples and honey and try blowing shofar.  PJ Library is a free Jewish storybook program, for children ages 6 months to 8 years, sponsored in Ithaca by the IAUJC. Discovering PJ Our WayIntroduced at the event is the new PJ Our Way program for children ages 9 to 11. This is also a free program which involves the young subscribers in a web based process. They choose the books they wish to read each month, can read and write reviews online, and can learn about the authors. To sign up, go to PJ Our Way
