Temple Beth El Jewish Film Festival - June Screening

The Jewish actress Arati Devi AKA Rachel Sofaer

The Arts Committee of Temple Beth El invites you to its annual Jewish film festival with a series of three entertaining and uplifting films this summer. It will take place in the social hall of the temple. The line up includes: Shalom Bollywood on June 13th, The Sturgeon Queens and Bagels in the Blood on July 25th and The Band’s Visit on August 22nd. These are all Wednesday evenings. Doors open at 6:30 PM for free refreshments and socializing. The films begin at 7 PM. Tickets are $8 at the door (check or cash only). All films are appropriate for children ages 10 and above. Teens are encouraged to attend.

Shalom Bollywood: The Untold Story of Indian Cinema - a documentary about kosher papadams, over the top costumes, religious co-existence, the odd elephant, big screen romance and 12 million
cinema tickets. Who knew that Jewish actresses dominated Indian movies for the first decades of its 100-year history? Professor Deborah Starr, Associate Professor of Modern Arabic and Hebrew Literature and Film in the Department of Near Eastern Studies will join us for a talk back.
