Irene Zisblatt: Her Survival Story

Irene Zisblatt

Irene Zisblatt was born in 1929 and is a Hungarian-born Holocaust survivor who lost her whole family during the war. She was an inmate in Auschwitz-Birkenau and was part of Dr. Josef Mengele’s experiments. She is most well known for her autobiography “The Fifth Diamond,” and her testimony in Steven Spielberg’s documentary “The Last Days.” She travels around the world to speak about her experiences to make sure genocides like the Holocaust and the Rwandan genocide never happen again. Students and community members are invited to take this once in a lifetime opportunity to hear from a first-hand witness of genocide and learn how to stop hate in their communities.
