Over 200 attendees of all religions and ages, came together to to remember the Holocaust and to listen to the words of a survivor, Professor Emeritus Gerd Korman. The program began with the lovely voices of the Ithaca Children and Youth Chorus. Then a number of local people, who are survivors, lit candles in memory of the many who died during those years. Our speaker, Professor Korman told us about his childhood and the events of WW II that tore his family apart. Members of his immediate family survived and were finally reunited in the U.S.
This was a memorable event for those who had not seen Professor Korman for many years, since his retirement from Cornell. He met with people during the reception and signed many copies of his memoir. A video by James Bosjolie, of the lecture may be accessed here.
